On orders of Osama Bin Laden, the brilliant Al Qaeda operative Amer Al Zaroor directs the theft of a nuclear bomb from Pakistan's military. As Al Zaroor secetly transports the weapon toward an unknown target, Bin Laden announces to the world that he wil trigger a nuclear explosion on the tenth anniversary of 9/11, changing the face of Western civilization forever.
Brooke Chandler, who joined the CIA in the wake of 9/11 and a wrenching breakup with an Israeli woman he loved deeply, is sidelined in Washington because an incompetent colleague exposed his operations against Al Qaeda in the Middle East, leading to his near death. Now Chandler thinks he knows how to locate the weapon and where Bin Laden intends to use it.
Against the skepticism of the White house and his own superiors, Chandler launches a quest to find and disable the bomb before global tragedy strikes. His race against the clock returns him to the Middle East, where no one is quite who they seem-including the beautiful and enigmatic archeologist he encounters at the epicenter of terrorism-and where the plans of enemies old and new depend on Chandler's death.
